讲座概要:

The stability of the banking system and macro-prudential regulation are essential for healthy economic growth. In this paper we study the European bank network and its vulnerability to stressing different bank assets by analyzing a bipartite network constructed as in. The findings in this paper imply that a micro-prudential approach to regulation needs to be supplemented by macro-prudential supervision of the banking system, especially in a crisis situation with increased risk perceptions and nervous actors. Our results underscore the importance of macro-prudential policy which aims to address the inherent vulnerability of the financial system, high level of leverage, inter connectivity of system’s entities, similar risk exposure of financial institutions, and susceptibility to systemic crisis propagation through the system.
