ECUST Final Qualifying of 2013 Asia-Pacific Model APEC Meeting

The ECUST final qualifying of 2013 Asia-Pacific Model APEC Meeting was held on the evening of May 23rd. Associate Prof. Wang Xiaoguang, director of Department of Economics, together with Dr. Li Youping and Dr. Peng Delei from Department of Economics, joined in the judging panel.

 


During the final qualifying, 11 contestants, each representing one country or region, discussed on economic issues of the Asia-Pacific region. In the beginning, the “delegates” delivered a 3-minute English speech in which they stated on their standpoints. In the lobbying, the “delegates” went all out to seek support from other delegations. Issues, such as anti-dumping, arms deal and food safety, generated heated discussion among the “delegates”. Next, the judges asked the “delegates” for their opinions on how to promote economic development while guaranteeing political and economic stability. Later, the judges gave comments and advice to the contestants according to their performance.

After fierce competition, 3 students representing China, Russia and Japan gained access to the rematch of the Shanghai region.
