At the invitation of the Department of Finance, ECUST School of Business, Prof. Jiang Jinyong from the Department of Finance, Washington State University (US), who is also a chair professor of ECUST, gave an academic report on “The Shrinking Space for Anomalies” to the teachers and students of the ECUST Department of Finance on the afternoon of Dec. 19. The report meeting was presided over by Prof. Liu Jianguo, director of the ECUST Department of Finance.

According to financial anomalies in the stock market, Prof. Jiang put forward two questions: Which stocks have caused these anomalies? Are the abnormal returns from the anomalies brought by these stocks? Focusing on these two questions, Prof. Jiang introduced the methods he adopted and his findings. He emphasized that ideas matter more in the research of financial problems while the research methods could be very simple. After the report, the teachers and students had much discussion with Prof. Jiang, who gave detailed explanation to their questions.
