Prof. Rashad Abdel-Khalik from the Department of Accounting, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, gave a lecture entitled “On Research Methods” to the teachers and students of ECUST School of Business on November 24th. Prof. Ruan Yongping, director of the ECUST Department of Accounting and the Institute of Corporate Finance, presided over the lecture.

Prof. Abdel-Khalik emphasized that researchers, instead of focusing merely on incidence relations, should try harder to probe into causal relationships. He introduced the phases of research process and the important features of high-quality research, and pointed out the main problems in published papers nowadays. Prof. Abdel-Khalik also shared his experience in publishing papers in top accounting journals and answered questions raised by the teachers and students present.
