Recently, the 2nd International Conference on Econophysics and the 3rd Asia-Pacific Econophysics Conference is held by ECUST (East China University of Science & Technology) at Yifu Building of ECUST. Prof. Didier Sornette (ETH Zurich), Prof. H. Eugene Stanley (Boston University), and Prof. Zhang Yicheng (University of Fribourg), all honorary professors of ECUST, chaired the conference. Prof. Chen Siwei, honorary president of ECUST, acted as the honorary chairman of the conference.
The scholars who made keynote speeches at the conference included George J. Jiang (Washington State University), Janos Kertesz (Central European University), Rosario N. Mantegna (Central European University), Luciano Pietronero (University of Rome "La Sapienza"), Didier Sornette, H. Eugene Stanley, Wang Binghong (University of Science and Technology of China), Zhang Wei (Tianjin University), Zhang Yicheng, etc.
Meanwhile, Huang Jiping, Wang Yougui, Zheng Bo, Sónia Margarida Bentes, Siew-Ann Cheong, Stanislaw Drozdz, Serge Galam, Dariusz Grech, Woo-Sung Jung, Steve Keen, Seunghwan Kim, Jae Woo Lee, Sai-Ping Li, Yannick Malevergne, Boris Podobnik, Sílvio M. Duarte Queirós, Bridget Rosewell, Hideki Takayasu, Misako Takayasu and Irena Vodenska made invited talks at the conference.
During the conference, the Academic Committee of Asia-Pacific Econophysics Conference held a lunch meeting in the fourth canteen of ECUST. Prof. Zhou Weixing (ECUST School of Business) presided over the meeting as the rotating chairman of the year. The meeting confirmed that the Asia-Pacific Econophysics Conference will be held at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) in 2015, and at Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan) in 2016. During the meeting, Prof. Tu Shandong, vice president of ECUST, and Prof. Sornette had significant discussion with the scholars in the aspects of academic research, discipline construction, international exchanges, etc.
It is learnt that there were 83 registered attendees of this conference, among whom 35 are from mainland China and 48 from other regions or countries. 55 scholars made academic reports. During the conference, the attendees had extensive and in-depth communication on econophysics. The academic level and organizational work of the conference were highly appreciated by the attendees.
