Led by lecturer Dr. Peng Delei from the Department of Economics and class tutor Ms. Tang Yi, the international students of Class 2012 (including MIB, MBA and exchange students) and some Chinese students visited GE China, which is located in the Pudong area of Shanghai, on the afternoon of November 20th. The teachers and students were warmly received by the GE staff, who showed them around GE and made impressive introduction about the company.

The visit was composed of two parts. First, the teachers and students visited the GE China Technology Park. The legal advisors of GE China introduced the high-tech products of GE to the teachers and students, including the aeroengine models, medical equipments, renewable energy technology, water treatment technology, etc. Through the visit, the students were impressed by the high-tech products of GE as well as its humanistic care and sense of social responsibility.

Next, the legal advisors of GE China gave lectures respectively to the ECUST teachers and students. The speakers stated that GE lays emphasis on the integrity of the company itself and its staff, which reflects GE’s corporate culture and is one of the reasons why GE ranks in the Fortune Global 500 companies. The speakers also mentioned that although GE attaches importance to research and development, legal advisors play a significant role in the company’s operation.

In particular, the GE staff prepared nice gifts to the students. This visit has made the teachers and students realized the humanistic care and social responsibility of GE as well as the confidence and kindness of the GE staff. They have also learnt more about the legal environment of investment in China. After the visit, many students expressed the hope of joining in GE as an intern or a staff member in the future.
