Professor Jatin Nathiwani, Ontario Research Chair in Public Policy for Sustainable Energy and Excecutive Director of Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE) at University of Waterloo, gave a lecture entitled “Global Energy Transitions: Responding to the Threat of Climate Change” at ECUST School of Business on the afternoon of April 15th, 2015.

Professor Nathiwani expounded on the frontier scientific problems and orientations in the field of new energy research, which mainly included energy and climate, energy eco-system, cheap energy that people can use, inter-generational burden, technological path toward ecological restoration, etc. After introducing different sorts of new energy and their utilization, Professor Nathiwani analyzed the relationship between the development of human society and energy ladder, and described the spatial arrangement and utilization situation of China’s sustainable energy. He also stated and compared the practice of green development in China and worldwide.

During the lecture, the teachers of ECUST School of Business communicated with Professor Nathiwani about some issues in the field of low-carbon economy and new energy.
