The School Opening Ceremony for Masters of Engineering of Class 2012 was grandly held in Yifu building of ECUST at 16:15 on March 3. The leaders of ECUST School of Business that attended the ceremony included Prof. Wu Baijun, dean of ECUST School of Business, Prof. Yan Haifeng, deputy dean in charge of Professional Master’s Programs Office, and Associate Prof. Han Liqing, director of Teaching Administration Office of Professional Master’s Programs Office. Mr. Yao Lei, director of the ME (Master of Engineering) Programs Office, presided over the opening ceremony.

Deputy Dean Yan Haifeng expressed warm welcome to all the new students. He introduced the overall situation of the ME Programs and encouraged the students to take an active part in the featured programs such as Action Learning Program and “Integration into the City” Project.

Later, Dean Wu Baijun made an ebullient speech in which he mentioned that School of Business is “Life of Community” that needs efforts of each of its members. Dean Wu said that with the ever growing demand on talents in the field of production technology and scientific management, the ME Program focuses on the combination of skills and scientific management, and aims at cultivating middle and senior-level enterprise managers.

Mr. Wu Wenbo, as a student representative of Class 2011, shared his studying experience with the new students. He encouraged them to actively adjust their knowledge structure and studying schedule and try to cultivate the ability to solve new problems in a new field. Mr. Li Yang, as a student representative of Class 2012, thanked ECUST for giving them the opportunity to further their studies. He called on all the new students to apply knowledge into practice, and change their fixed thinking patterns in work.

In the end, Associate Prof. Han Liqing, director of Teaching Administration Office of Professional Master’s Programs Office, introduced the overall situation of the ME Program, including the training process, duration, curriculum, thesis writing, oral defense, etc.

The opening ceremony ended in the rapturous applause of students. Afterwards, the class tutors had the first class meeting with the new students, helping them to make good preparation for the future studies and activities.
