In this seminar, the presenter will draw on his experience as an author, reviewer, and editor in the field of international business and strategic management to discuss key features underlying high-quality research that is likely to succeed in the journal review process. He will discuss the importance of research question selection, theoretical contribution, argumentation, and empirical design in doing high-quality research. He will also emphasize the importance of framing when writing a research paper for management outlets. He will use the editorial and review process at the Journal of Management Studies, where he serves as an associate editor, as an example to illustrate his points. The audience is highly encouraged to bring their own questions to the seminar and share their own experiences in this interactive session.

报告人简介：

Lin Cui is a Professor of Strategy and International Business at the Research School of Management. Lin’s research interests include international business strategies and business innovation and entrepreneurship. His recent research investigates the impacts of institutional environment, business network and governance structure, and firm resources and strategic leadership on firm strategies and performance. Lin’s work has been funded through major competitive research grant schemes and published in renowned academic journals including Journal of International Business Studies, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Operations Management, among other. Lin is an associate editor of Journal of Management Studies, a senior editor of International Business Review, while serving on the editorial boards of other leading scholarly journals.
