Professor Wang’s research examines Chinese firms’ innovation and marketing capabilities under different business and institutional environments. In addition, she investigates the adoption process for new technological products and consumption behavior for functional versus luxury brands. She published numerous book chapters and top journal articles including Journal of Marketing Research, Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Research Policy and Structural Change and Economic Dynamics. She is Associate Editor for Journal of Research in Interactive Marketing and has consulted for companies in the UK, US and China. She is on the board of directors and expert advisor for government agencies and businesses both in the UK and China. Professor Wang’s work has been featured in the media including BBC News channel, Bloomberg TV, The Financial Times, China Daily, The New York Times, The Independent, The Times, and The Red Luxury.
Professor Qing Wang is Professor of Marketing and Innovation, Warwick Business School, and Director of Academic Projects (China), University of Warwick. She is Guest Professor of Zhejiang University Management School, External Research Fellow for the National Brand Research Centre at East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai. In addition, she held visiting professor positions at Duke University, Insead, Tsinghua University, and Sun Yat-sen University. She is the founder of the Marketing, Innovation and the Chinese Economy (MICE), the Luxury & Innovation Hub (LiH). She taught undergraduate and postgraduate programmes on International Marketing, Branding Strategy and Innovation Management.
Professor Wang obtained the degree of BSc in Engineering from Xian University of Technology in 1982, MSc in Management from Tianjin University in 1987, and PhD in Marketing from Warwick University in 1993. In 2013, she was awarded the higher doctorate - Doctor of Science (DSc), by Warwick University for her outstanding contribution to social science research. She is the recipient of the 2009 Robert D. Buzzell Best Paper Award from the Marketing Science Institute (MSI) and the finalist for the 2015 Asia Professional Awards (APA) and for the PwC Business leaders Award in 2017 in the UK.
